If you have ever had the pleasure of meeting Brian, then you know that he is one of the most sincere and kindest human beings roaming the Earth. You normally think of business owners as a little rough around the edges or even cold. But not Alderman Snyder (he is very active in his hometown, Nolensville). Many people know Brian from his radio days over at 107.5 The River or his decade at Dell, but Snyder Entertainment has always been in the life plan for Brian. 1. What made you get started in the wedding industry?
On a personal level, I really enjoy connecting with people socially. I love their story, how they met, what they are into, and all of those personal details that add up to one big relationship. The wedding industry allowed me to continually meet new people, create new relationships and explore how this really big world can feel pretty small sometimes.
2. What do you like most about working weddings?
This answer has probably changed over the years, but I can tell you without hesitation; being a father of two little girls – that the Father/Daughter dance is my favorite moment. I have seen dads sing to their daughters, take dance lessons, do the mash up of crazy songs and dances, and I have even seen a recently deceased dad leave a video message for his daughter for their dance. It gets me every single time… I know one day my two daughters will find love and I hope to walk on that dance floor with my insides going crazy from nerves and smile my best smile, heart pounding out of my chest and simply take my daughter’s hand and enjoy every single second of that song. I now know what it is to be a dad to a daughter, and that is my favorite part of every wedding!
3. What’s the craziest thing that has happened to you while working a wedding?
I always love this question and like the previous answer, I feel like this has probably changed over the years as surprises are always happening.
4. What’s the best advice you can give to a bride?
This is a little bit of tough love. Often times we meet a client who is naturally excited about their wedding day and they have started to create Pinterest boards, they have read online articles and in a very short time…they have all they need to know about how to execute a flawless wedding. Our team philosophy is that we need to embrace their vision and facilitate in bringing that vision to a reality. We also need to be able to use our experience to help create the best environment. This past year our team spent over $10,000 in continuing education. We had the good fortune of being a featured presenter at an international DJ conference. Performance workshops, monthly training sessions, countless webinars and news articles and all of those things are designed to bring the best of everything to our clients. I know this is tough to read and the tone can be heard wrong… let professionals offer their experience as this is what they do to provide for their families. When we pay for other services such as doctor visits, how many times do we tell the Dr what to prescribe? They normally give us a recommendation and we are okay with that as we know they went to years of school. When interviewing potential vendors, you will quickly learn who the pretenders are and who the professionals are… and price is normally a great “eye ball” test. There could be a reason the DJ service is providing events at $700. Does that include insurance? Does that include backup equipment on site? Does that include unlimited consultations? Does that include licensed music? If you are going to be an expert on the expectations on the front end, it would fall in line that you would hire an expert on the back end of your decision.
5. What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not busy with work?
I have a bad habit for endurance running. This past year I participated in multiple Ultra Marathons, Trail Marathons and of course the local 5K’s and 10K’s. My wife purchased me first mountain bike just over a year ago and I have started to add cycling to my routine. When the spring hits, I plan on hitting the pool and gearing up for my first Iron Man race. I know this is not the popular sport anymore, but I am a complete baseball geek and I love the beauty of the game, the power of the numbers in the game and of course, the unwritten rules of baseball.
6. What’s your favorite food, animal, and color? Why?!
This may be the guy coming out in full force right here…but I am a believer that even bad pizza is still pizza. I love pizza. I love chains, I love the hidden gems or “hole in the walls” pizza joints. For me, it’s easy to eat and reminds of being a kid.
Without question my favorite animal is a dog! I love the passion and emotion that dogs show to their owners. You know when they are sad, when they are pumped to see you and when they want to play. I prefer larger dogs and as a dad, I always prefer a dog that is kid friendly.
Color is so tough to choose….if I say Red everyone will say it is because of my love affair with Taylor Swift. Although that is probably 90% accurate, I cannot ever escape the absolute magnetism I have to the color of blue. Anything that has a blue flashy light on it, I will probably buy. It looks modern, clean and royal all at the same time. I’m going with blue for my favorite color!
