Our team takes the time to get to know you as well as we can before your big day. To make your day go as smoothly as possible, there are some details you should be prepared to share, when you meet your DJ! Keep reading to learn some of the information you can share to make your big day the best it can be.
// SPECIAL SONGS + HOW LONG
For starters, your DJ will many times over review what songs you've picked for the major moments- think wedding party introduction, first dance, father/daughter, mother/son dance, cake cutting, bouquet + garter toss, and the last song. Timing is also critical, and not just in regards to the actual day-of timeline, but what songs to play when. And that is timeline information that your assigned DJ/MC will work with you and/or your wedding planner to perfect. For example, will you want to dance the full seven minutes of your first dance love ballad, or would you prefer that your DJ fade out at the three-minute mark?
// HOW TO PRONOUNCE ALL NAMES
During your final walk through, your DJ will review a phonetic spelling of all names (first and/or last) in your wedding party. Your DJ needs to know is how to correctly pronounce all names correctly for the grand entrance introduction.
// DEDICATION SONGS
As opposed to just a general list of songs you'd like to hear, our team encourages our clients to provide some context. For instance, "'Hot In Herre' by Nelly was our high school anthem and I want to dedicate it to my bridesmaids," or "My Mom just loves Stevie Wonder so she'll get a out on the dance floor to anything by him." Those helpful hints are great for your DJ and will save you both time during your last couple of meetings.
// GUESTS + SONG REQUESTS
It's totally up to you if you want to leave room for your DJ to take songs requests. Don't hesitate to list anything you don't want to hear, e.g. no line dances. If a guest requests a song on your "do not playlist" then your DJ will simply tell guests requesting those particular songs that he doesn't have them available. No harm done and no hurt feelings.
// EMCEE ANNOUNCEMENTS
Aside from introductions, your DJ will ask you how much or how little that you want him to emcee. It's important to mention how comfortable you and your fiancé are being the center of attention at your reception. Some people thrive on it, while others cringe at the whole thing so it's best that your DJ have the heads up as to where you lie on the spectrum.
// BAD BLOOD
Strained relationships between members of your bridal party or family that could cause awkwardness? Then we strongly suggest making your DJ aware of them so that he or she can use the utmost care and sensitivity while interacting with those individuals and in making announcements at your reception.
// OTHER VENDORS
Your assigned DJ is going to ask you to list which other vendors you've hired to be a part of your special day, and we don't ask this to creep on your plans. We ask you because one, we've worked with so many wedding vendors chances are we will know them, and two, because we like to prepare our timeline with those vendors. We know that you're going to have a surprise mashup choreographed dance for your Father/Daughter, but does your photographer? We don't want you to have to worry about repeating all of those details, so we will do it for you.
