Nashville DJ Diaires | Three Summer Soirées Sure to Make You Swoon

Summer weddings are some of our favorites. I'm not sure if it's the sunshine or the slowly approaching fall days, the warm breezes, or if it's just because all weddings at Mint Springs Farm are always naturally pretty. Either way, here's a collection of some beautiful summer weddings that we were fortunate to get to press play on their special days. Grab the SPF + get wrapped up in their playlists, photographs, and warm feelings of love..

They were a fun group, and almost everyone was from out of town. Lauren is from California and is a film maker among many other things. Her Nashville connection is with her father Jim Weatherson who is the GM for Big Machine Records. She LOVES country music, but the big songs of the night were good old dance classics. They danced to "When You Got a Good Thing" by Lady Antebellum for their first dance. Then her brother Cole sang the Father Daughter dance which was a really nice touch. The bouquet toss was “Señorita” by Justin Timberlake which I haven’t played in a while and they went over fantastic. Lauren and Andrew were also big classic rock fans so we had some fun pulling out some of those big songs for them.  It was great!

PLAYLIST //

First Dance | Faithfully by Journey

Father/Daughter Dance | Daddy's Girl by Peter Cetera

Bridal Party Introductions | Don't Stop Me Now by Queen

Cake Cutting | Love Bites by Def Leopard

Last Dance | Come on Eileen by Dexy's Midnight Runners

We took our time and worked on several moments throughout the night. The biggest thing we did was a customized slide show for the special songs; they gave me some file folders with some pictures but I didn’t want to just place them in a normal slide show especially because this couple was so much fun and were doing a lot non traditional songs. So I took their first dance pictures and created a animated movie with the pictures, their names, dates and hidden messages in it. Their first dance was “Faithfully” by Journey so we had everybody sing along on the whoa-whoa-whoas. We also did a slide show for the Father Daughter and Mother Son dances. I ended up mashing the two songs together into movies as well with the pictures and we timed out the transitions so that the right slide was on when someone would walk on to the dance floor. The fun part was that instead of just putting the movies on a screen we actually projected the shows straight on to the dance floor, and it looked amazing! We also had some fun with other songs like using Def Leopard’s “Love Bites” for the Cake Cutting which was awesome. We did a anniversary dance to "Through the Years" and programmed the dance lighting to sweep down on the winners at the end of the dance. Another fun moment was the last two songs of the night; they requested “Take Me Home Country Roads” by John Denver into “Come On Eileen” for the last dance. They sang the John Denver song at the top of their lungs. This was an epic wedding celebration that I'll always remember! -Brad Ford

Crystal + Will

I liked this couple a lot! Crystal was a ball of joy and literally smiled every single moment of the night.  She is a dance instructor and therefore had a lot of her dancers at the wedding, so the dance floor was very strong. Will is simply the nicest guy you will come across;  very kind and open. We did the wedding party introductions to "Bring Em Out" by TI. Crystal being a dance instructor mashed up her own first dance using "Take My Hand" by Will Anderson and "I Choose You" by Andy Grammar.  One of my other favorite music moments was the Father Daughter dance; they did "Daddy Dance with Me" which was fairly expected, but what I loved about it was that Crystal and her dad Steve didn’t want to end of a sappy note so they went into "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns and Roses and just rocked out the dance floor 80’s style!  One of the best moments of the night was that all the “dancers” choreographed a dance so we mashed up "JuJu on the Beat" and "We Get Turnt Up" and followed it up with the "Cupid Shuffle."
